Domaine A. Cailbourdin — Pouilly-Fumé

Boisfleury vines

Alain and Carmen Cailbourdin founded their domaine in 1980 and today it includes 16 hectares spread among the finest slopes in the Pouilly-Fumé AOC. Half of the vineyards are of old vines and the other half have been planted by the Cailbourdins. The grapes of each vineyard are vinified separately to create distinct cuvées, each representing a terroir and a unique aromatic expression of Sauvignon Blanc. Alain is part of a new breed of winemakers dedicated to producing a high quality wine and not just a high volume wine.  His methods are traditional, yet his yields are low and the wines are concentrated and pure expressions of Sauvignon Blanc.  He believes in using a minimum of sulfur dioxide during and after vinification.
"One of Pouilly-Fumé's Best Producers ****" -- Robert Parker Jr.

Pouilly-Fumé ‘Tryptique’ 2005 — Produced from very old vines (75 years), where concentration of flavour is very high, this wine is raised 'sur lie' for 10 months followed by 3 months in oak barriques, and a year in bottle. It is one of the world’s finest expressions of Sauvignon Blanc: “Discrete nose of flowers and fruits, excellent concentration and perfect balance in the mouth, elegant and well-structured, very, very long . (JPO, DMO July, 2007).

Cuvée de Boisfleury 2008 — Welcoming nose of fruits & white flowers. Follows onto the palate with good balance between fruits and minerality, finishes with very good length. (JPO, VinExpo, JUne 2009).
